• HAPPY NEW YEAR

I hope you all enjoyed the holidays with friends and family.

It has been lovely to see the children back this week. It is always a bit  difficult to predict their temperaments after nearly two weeks of late nights and quality time with family. But, the children have been amazing and seem to have really missed their friends and teachers.

    New Joiners

We are pleased to welcome Sanaya, Grace and Kanisha whom have joined us this term

We are currently looking to recruit an additional practitioner and have offered a trial week to Debbie Hughes. Debbie has a Bachelors degree in Education Studies and experience in the Early years. I will keep you updated should we choose to offer Debbie a permanent role.

    A few updates…

Some of you will have noticed that I did not deliver on my promise of the Christmas Play on CD. This is because I realised that my photo/video consent form is a little dated and does not cover this circumstance. I have therefore drafted a new one which you will receive over the next few days. Please do complete and return it at the earliest.

    Renovation

The nursery has had a bit of a renovation (still ongoing with parcels driving every day!). Play dough station has found a home in what use to be Diggers. Under 2’s have a dedicated rest area (although toddlers can free flow ) in what use to be Woodlands. Construction and small world has moved upstairs. Sensory Room has had a refresh and I am sure there are more things i have forgotten to mention.

We are constantly reviewing the environment to provide the best learning opportunities for the children and we expect that we will continue to reflect and amend as part of continuous improvement.

    Learning journeys

For the past 2 years we have put in a tremendous amount of effort to capture your children’s observations in a learning journey. Producing hard copy learning journeys for each child takes a considerable amount of time and we have been reflecting on how we can improve the process. We have found the answer in an online learning journey called Tapestry. It is a secure system where both parents and practitioners can share observations.

We are currently trialling it and you will receive information via email as to how to access it.
